Sold Out Nickerson Memorial Lecture: Bob Woodward

Brewster Ladies’ Library Association Frances Mapes Nickerson Memorial Lecture
Saturday, October 22, 2022
2 and 7 PM

Brewster Baptist Church, 1848 Main Street, Brewster, MA  02631

Presenting:
Bob Woodward, associate editor of The Washington Post and
author or co-author of 21 bestselling, non-fiction books

Bob Woodward gained international attention when he and Carl Bernstein uncovered the Watergate scandal in 1973. Since then, he’s worked to shine a light on the inner workings of government. In his speeches, Woodward looks at the expanding powers of the presidency and the important lessons that can be learned from the presidents he’s covered. He also assesses the role of the media and how well it is (or isn’t) doing its job. Currently associate editor for The Washington Post, where he’s worked since 1971, Bob Woodward has won nearly every American journalism award including two Pulitzers.

The annual Frances Mapes Nickerson Memorial Lecture is sponsored by the Brewster Ladies’ Library Association in memory and honor of Mrs. Nickerson, long-time Brewster resident and library benefactor. When Frances Mapes Nickerson passed away in 2010, she left a bequest to support the Brewster Ladies’ Library well into the future.

Individuals with a current membership (July 2022 – June 2023) in the Brewster Ladies’ Library Association will be eligible to register early for this program, at a maximum of two seats per household. Early registration will occur from September 1 to September 15. If tickets remain after that date, reservations will be opened to the wider community. Those interested in joining the Association may do so via the Library website, www.brewsterladieslibrary.org.

Mr. Woodward’s presentation will be live in the Church Sanctuary and live streamed into the Fellowship Hall. The seating is open; there are no reserved seats. Tickets will be distributed on a first come, first serve basis. Once the Sanctuary is full, attendees will be seated in the Fellowship Hall.

Through the generosity of Mrs. Nickerson, this lecture is free. Donations, however, are appreciated and support the work of the Brewster Ladies’ Library.
