The Brewster Ladies Library will begin construction on its replacement elevator on April 10, 2024. This important project is expected to be completed by July 15, 2024.
The Elevator Replacement is a major construction project and therefore, the Library’s Lower Level will be closed to the public during construction. There is another accessible entrance located near the handicap spot at the side of the building. Patrons may also request curbside pickup of library materials by calling the Library at 508-896-3913.
Please excuse any additional construction noise or other disruption during this time. We apologize for any inconvenience, and we thank you for your understanding.
Questions regarding this project can be directed to Brittany Taylor, Library Director, btaylor@brewsterladieslibrary.org.
Books & Big Ideas
The Town of Brewster has created an all-ages community read program entitled “Books & Big Ideas,” which aims to use books to encourage discussion about topics affecting our community. Starting in April, community members are encouraged to read titles from a curated selection of books about housing. These stories intend to provide different perspectives on housing, including the importance of “home”, housing insecurity, seasonal housing, affordable housing, and more. Books & Big Ideas will include events from April to June to facilitate the sharing of ideas.
Until March 30th, All donations are accepted in the library basement on: TUESDAY 9:30-11:30 WEDNESDAY 10:00-12:00 SATURDAY 10:00-12:00 SUNDAY 1:00-3:30

New Youth
Services Librarian
Brewster Ladies’ Library is pleased to announce that Michelle Benoit, formerly our Circulation Manager, has taken on the new role of Youth Services Librarian. Along with her two years working in Brewster, Michelle has a background in elementary education and eight years of library experience beginning with working in her children’s school library in southern Maine when her boys were young. After moving to Cape Cod, Michelle worked at the Centerville Library as the youth services assistant. She has been conducting her very popular storytimes in Brewster for over a year. She adores children and cannot wait to bring her warmth, energy and enthusiasm into her new position.
Please join us in congratulating Michelle in her new role as Youth Services Librarian!
Won’t You Be My Neighbor Day was started as a way to spread love and kindness in honor of Mr. Rogers birthday. Mr. Rogers left a legacy of helping children and their families believe “It’s a Beautiful Day in This Neighborhood”. Swing by the children’s room on March 20th at any time, for some Won’t You Be My Neighbor? Day activities.
On February 20th Brittany and Devon participated in the Eco Expo, which featured Brewster Chamber members who focus on ecological as well as economic sustainability. Brittany and Devon promoted upcoming programs relating to ecological sustainability and brought books with that same theme to check out to attendees.

Cynthia has been a volunteer at the BLL since 2012 and served two terms on the BLL Association Board. She’s served BLL when Volunteers did everything from painting the foundation, to sopping up flooding in the basement. She’s hosted Sunday concerts, promoted membership in the BLL Association, and cleared up a backed up men’s room (during one such concert.) Cynthia helped organize the Boy Scouts who used to help set up BLL’s holiday decorations and searched the whole library for a missing Scout (who turned out to be already home). She’s sorted and cashiered at the summertime Book Sale and watched with delight as so many children walked away with armloads of books. She’s shelved and shifted more books than she can count.
